"My experience with Same Sky was that of the utmost professionalism and mutual respect for the recording process and material itself. As their operational meticulousness exceeded my expectations, they were able to cultivate the irreducible creativity and warmth that is important in achieving a world-class recording and a 'once in a lifetime' collaboration. I would recommend them to anyone who strives to reach the moon with their music and product."

Tee Double and James Speer Austin Music Hip-Hop Artist of The Year!
Born out of an impromptu jam session at Same Sky's SXSW after-party, "Set The Tone" features two of Austin's finest artists in true collaboration.
"James was performing at our studio party and Tee Double walked in after just accepting his award for Austin's "Hip-Hop Artist of the year". Tee jumped on the mic and the two of them together was this really amazing moment. We all talked about how great the vibe was and decided to take it in the studio and cut a single. We actually referenced the original jam as Tee caught it on his flip cam." - David Messier, Same Sky Productions

Brendan Kelley
“When Brendan Kelley came into our office he had his acoustic guitar, an amazing voice, and a dozen or so songs with great potential. Brendan strummed away as I asked him to play everything he had written, even if it was just the very beginning of an idea. One of the ideas was just the first few chords and lines of a song that really knocked me out. That one ended up as the track ‘Take Me Home’! By putting the right band together, helping his writing, then engineering, recording and mixing Brendan’s EP we were able to develop his sound and create tracks that set him apart from the myriad of young singer-songwriters out there. The trick was producing what was unique about Brendan.
I really love this record.” - D. Messier

Tracking vocals with David was without exception a pleasure and a thrill. I always felt he was on my side and that he listened to me -- on many levels. He was attuned to the strengths of my voice and made all possible adjustments to accommodate and enhance those strengths. With each song (and in some cases well before we actually started recording vocals) he asked what I wanted to convey and then worked with me to improve lyrics, melodies, and style to deliver that message. During tracking sessions, David was intuitive and quick to pick up on the kind of pace and feedback that was helpful for me; he was also responsive to all kinds of requests ("Can I go see the sun?") that made it easy to take risks and comfortable to record an authentic vocal performance.”
